Installation Details

As artist Mary Shindell traveled from her home in Phoenix to the West Valley, she took in  the gradual change in landscape, noting the soaring hawks, bright pink sunsets, and omnipresent clouds. These elements, along with bougainvillea and other flora emblematic of the area, have all been incorporated into her storefront installation on Western Avenue between Litchfield and Central in Goodyear’s Historic District.

Shindell printed images of local flora and fauna in white on clear vinyl and adhered them to the interior of the vacan storefront windows. Printed Plexiglas clouds and flowers, suspended behind the vinyl, lend added dimension and texture. Optical fibers embedded in the artwork and up-lighting provide added drama.

This artwork was commissioned by City of Goodyear Public Art.
