Christine Cassano’s time as a researcher within the environmental industry left her with an enormous curiosity for investigating our civilization’s pattens and impacts on the planet. Transversing Sonoran Connections is two concrete + copper obelisks with aviation maps etched in copper register airspace above while circuitry runs down the copper internal sides. The circuit board pattern is of a circuit used in radio frequency applications. Here, the patterns are filled with satellite views of human impact on the local landscape that will patina and fade in the copper over time. These obelisks navigate the skies and echo human-made patterns deep within, conduits each.
