Installation Details

A Little Slice of Heaven embodies the concept of American idealism as a quest for prosperity and peace juxtaposed with the complacency of the human condition. In his installation, John Tuomisto-Bell represents American idealism with 40 individual “homesteads”—grass and picket fences—which suggest the American dream of owning land and a home. The conceptual component of complacency is brought forth by the fragile sleeping wax heads, each molded by Tuomisto-Bell at his home studio foundry in Phoenix.
