FAQ

Does IN FLUX work with artists who are new to public art?

Absolutely! The intentions of this multi-city partnership are to create connections between community organizations, city governments, local businesses, artists, and audiences, while providing creatives a chance to expand their skills, challenge their creativity, and garner public recognition for their work.

Where can I read the entire RFQ?

The RFQ is available to read here.

What information should I gather ahead of applying?

The following materials are requested in PDF format:

  • Resume/CV
  • Statement of Intent
  • Image List
  • Maximum of six portfolio images, two of which may be concept renderings. Acceptable image formats: .pdf, jpg, jpeg, mp4, mov

What should my images be?

Up to six digital images of previously created artwork in jpeg format. Artists are invited as part of their submission to provide up to two of images (of the total six images) that represent their proposed installation if they so choose. This is especially helpful for those artists who may not have previous experience with public art work, but have an idea they want to propose for one of the locations. Concept images are not required.

What if I’m new to public art?

Be honest, but talk about how your gallery experience could translate into public art, what you hope to get out of public art, what your possible ideas are for public art, what public art you have found inspiring. Not necessarily all of those things, but some of them could be good.

Can I submit for multiple locations?

Yes, but in your application submission, please include the opportunity you are most interested in. This does not guarantee that the selection panel will place you in that specific opportunity however it will give the panelists a better idea of how you would approach this opportunity.

Can I apply with a team?

Yes. If applying as a team, please select a team lead as a point of contact for all communications. Artists applying as a member of a team are not eligible to also apply as an individual. Teams must submit one resume/CV per team member merged into one PDF.

Where will the installations be located?

IN FLUX will feature locations in six cities across the Valley. Read the call for details.

When will the installations be opened to the public?

In April, 2020.

Who is behind IN FLUX?

IN FLUX is a partnership of six cities from across the Phoenix metropolitan area: Chandler Arts Commission, City of Glendale Public Art Program, City of Peoria Arts & Culture, City of Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture, Scottsdale Public Art, and City of Tempe Public Art. Marketing and communications support is provided by Artlink Inc.
