Leininger’s proposal for This Much I Know was selected through a limited invitational to local artists for artworks created in conjunction with the City of Scottsdale’s 60th Anniversary.
For the multi-platform interactive project, the artist walked the entire length of Scottsdale Road throughout the 60 days leading up to the City’s 60th donned with a GPS tracking device to track her movements as she collected stories about the city to be shared in the storefront space and on her project blog.
Leininger also worked in one of the IN FLUX spaces—spinning and knitting a banner reading THIS MUCH I KNOW TO BE TRUE in reference to her learning about the City through one-on-one contact with its citizens. During her regularly scheduled times in the storefront location, she welcomed people into the space to record their stories and explore those she had already collected.
This artwork was commissioned by Scottsdale Public Art.
